Her Beautiful Life
A story of love, faith & family
Norma Jean Phillips was born on August 7, 1934, in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. From her earliest days, she was captivated by the beauty of nature — the way morning dew caught the sunlight, the scent of wildflowers in the meadow, and the endless green of the mountain forests that would remain her lifelong love.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Norma Jean’s home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her famous apple pie. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, whether they were family or a stranger passing through. Her kitchen table saw countless conversations, celebrations, and quiet moments of comfort shared over a cup of tea.
Her passions were many — she was an avid gardener whose green thumb was the envy of the neighborhood, a talented quilter whose creations warmed three generations, and a faithful member of her church community for over fifty years. But above all, her greatest joy was her family.

“The mountains were her cathedral, the garden was her canvas, and her family was her masterpiece.”
